STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS
REPLICATE YOURSELF MICROSITE
Star Trek: Lower Decks is unique not only for its hilarious premise–which manages to find comedy in the Star Trek universe without mocking it–but also because it’s animated. In partnership with the Star Trek franchise team and Stampede Studios, we created the “Replicate Yourself” microsite, a character generator using actual animation assets from the show where fans could build their own Starfleet crew member.
Customizable options included inclusive body types, skin and hair colors, props, and environments. In a later update, we added a feature where users could toggle between two different modes: the uniforms of either Lower Decks or Strange New Worlds, another Star Trek series which had a crossover episode.
With the full support of the executive producers and animation studio Titmouse, we also hosted a sweepstakes where fans who visited the site could enter for a chance to be drawn into an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks. As a result, the site earned over 140K unique visitors, and the winning fan will appear as a character in Season 5.
